Siemens SIMOTICS 1LE1-Motors with grey cast iron housing are especially robust and are therefore the first choice for use under more difficult environmental conditions. They are able to deal with dust or vibrations in mills and mixers as well as in the aggressive atmosphere of the petro-chemical industry. Their design optimally supports the heat dissipation of motors and therefore has the same operating features as the general-purpose-variants.

Advantages

The most suitable motor for various requirements

For severe-duty uses the following lines are available:

  • Basic Line: rugged, reliable motors for machinery construction
  • Performance Line: Motors for the process industry with reinforced bearings and a
    tougher paint finish, which can handle requirements that go beyond the Basic Line
  • Eagle Line: Motors for export into NAFTA; they fulfill ULR and CSA requirements and
    are supplied with the electrical values according to EISA stamped on the rating plate

Compact design

  • A motor’s size often plays an important role in the design of machines. For this reason the 1LE1-motors in IE2 and IE3 are maximally as long as their predecessors in the 1LG-series in IE2.
    A further highlight: often the IE3 motors fit into the same housing as IE2 motors. The efficiency classes do not differentiate themselves in their shaft heights. This is why the mechanical interface to the aggregate remains constant. This again makes possible a fairly problem-free efficiency upgrade to IE3 and obviates the need to adaptation the machine by means of mechanical construction.

Higher performance

  • Also in the severe duty area performance-enhanced motors could be the solution when the space available for a standard motor is not large enough. These motors offer the same performance output in the next smaller shaft height.
